Madison Kendrick

British. 6ft. 27. Somewhere between a suitcase and a sundress.

Right. Where to begin.

In January I did something that was either brilliant or spectacularly ill-advised — I packed a year's worth of silk dresses into a suitcase that was already too heavy and got on a plane to India. The plan, loosely, was 24 countries in 365 days. The reality, so far, has been rather more chaotic and rather more beautiful than anything I planned for.

I'm not entirely sure what to call what I do. "Travel blogger" makes me sound like I wear cargo shorts and rate airport lounges. "Influencer" makes my skin crawl slightly. "Content creator" is the kind of phrase people use when they don't want to explain themselves at dinner parties.

What actually happens is this: I arrive somewhere extraordinary, I find the best light I can, and I shoot. Model sets, mostly — the kind where you're standing in front of a crumbling temple in a dress that has absolutely no business being anywhere near sand, and it works anyway. I do this in every country. The photos end up as digital sets in my shop, for anyone who wants them.

Between shoots, I get dressed too many times for a person with limited luggage, I cause the occasional minor scene in a marketplace (being a foot taller than everyone will do that), and I document all of it on Instagram — the outfits, the places, the moments where you're standing somewhere so beautiful you forget to look at your phone for once.

The tall girl thing, since everyone always asks. I'm 6ft, or 182cm, depending on which side of the Channel you're from. I've spent my entire life hearing "have you tried the tall section?" and the answer is yes, it was four items and a pair of trousers that still finished above my ankle. So I figured out how to dress myself instead. Apparently people find this useful. I share what works — outfit ideas, travel looks, the occasional rant about hemlines — on Instagram and Pinterest, where it seems to have found its people.

A few things that are probably relevant: I studied at university before deciding the world was a more interesting classroom. I never travel without red lipstick and a proper SPF. My heels have more air miles than most people I know, and I refuse to apologise for wearing them on cobblestones.

I've been told I have a habit of walking into restaurants and making rooms go slightly quiet. I couldn't possibly comment on whether that's true. Or whether I enjoy it. Obviously.

If you've found your way here, you probably already follow me somewhere — Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, all under @tallblondeshowoff, because apparently I committed to that name and now I have to live with it. My shop has digital photo sets from the journey. And if you're looking for the version of me that doesn't quite make it to Instagram... well. You'll find a button for that on the main page.

One does what one can.
